Of Parents, Nannies and Children

I wasn't born with a silver spoon, thus, I do not know how it feels to have a nanny or even a driver. But I do know kids who have them.

For the past years, I have known children who have been raised by nannies instead of their parents. These children are closer to their yayas than their mom or dad. The sad part is, their parents know little about them. Sometimes, it is so surprising to see some of them dumbfounded about their kid's activities at home or even in school. It's as if they dont' live in one house. When this happens, I would always have this urge to ask them, "Haller, magulang ka ba talaga nila?"

Though sometimes, you can't fully blame them because they have jobs or businesses. But then again, they brought out a child to this world, it is just right that they raise the child properly. It is the parents who should instill values to these kids and not the drivers nor the nannies. In the end, these children won't be the responsibility of the latter.  Whatever values they have will always be attributed to the parents.

I know that this is not the general picture of how children are raised in our country since majority are still raised by their parents or grandparents. It is just a pity that those who have more in life are the ones needing parental guidance, attention and love.

I just hope that these children will find the proper attention they need but in a more positive way. Our world is forever changing but I do believe that family values should not be sacrificed in order to go with the flow. It is a fast paced world but when it comes to family, parents should always put their children first.
